About us
Ho Aik is a small wooden kopitiam at No. 86, Kampung Sitiawan. Dad runs it every day with a small team, along with his roti canai stall right beside the shop. The nasi lemak stall shares the space too.
The shop was first opened by Dad's grandfather, who handed it down to him. Today the tables are full of neighbours of every background, catching up over kopi.
和益The name means harmony and benefit.
Dad's grandfather opened a kopitiam in the wooden shophouse at No. 86, under a signboard reading 和益.
Dad grew up around the shop. Grandpa later handed it down to him, and he has run it ever since.
For about 20 years a roti canai stall has run beside the kopitiam, so breakfast here means kopi, kuih and roti together.
Chinese, Malay and Indian regulars share the same tables every morning. At Chinese New Year, red lanterns are hung along the kampung road.
